About Salford Medical Centre

Rooted in Salford. Focused on the future.

More than 50 years of local general practice, combining trusted relationships and community knowledge with accessible, modern and continuously improving NHS care.

Who we are

Salford Medical Centre is a long-established NHS GP practice based on Langworthy Road. We care for people and families across our diverse community through every stage of life.

Today, we work as one organisation across Salford Medical Centre and The Quays Practice. Patients benefit from a shared multidisciplinary team, a broader range of healthcare professionals and closer working with local NHS, community and voluntary-sector partners.

Our story

Our history is one of continuity and careful evolution—keeping the personal values of traditional general practice while responding to the changing needs of Salford.

More than five decades

Salford Medical Centre develops deep roots on Langworthy Road, caring for generations of local patients and families.

A growing organisation

In 2021, The Quays Practice became part of Salford Medical Centre, bringing together established experience and a newer practice serving the growing Quays community.

Our practice today

Two connected sites, a wider multidisciplinary team, digital and traditional routes to care, and an ongoing commitment to quality, access and patient experience.

Our vision

To provide trusted, compassionate and forward-looking primary care at the heart of Salford—where patients feel heard, staff are supported and everyone has a fair opportunity to achieve better health.

Our commitments to patients

These commitments guide how we plan, deliver, review and improve our services.

01

Safe and effective

We use evidence-based care, clear clinical governance, safeguarding, appropriate risk management and learning from significant events.

02

Caring and person-centred

We listen, explain choices clearly and involve patients in decisions, while respecting dignity, privacy, culture and individual needs.

03

Accessible and inclusive

We offer different ways to contact us, work to reduce barriers and make reasonable adjustments for communication, disability and other needs.

04

Responsive and improving

We review access, outcomes and patient experience, using feedback, complaints, audit and quality-improvement work to make care better.

Leadership and accountability

Led with purpose

The practice is led by Dr Ramzan Salim alongside a multidisciplinary clinical and management team.

Our leadership approach is open, accountable and focused on creating the conditions for safe, compassionate and high-quality care for patients—and a supportive environment in which staff can do their best work.

Clear governance

Defined responsibilities, regular clinical and operational meetings, risk review, safeguarding oversight and appropriate escalation.

A learning culture

Training, supervision, reflective practice, audit and quality-improvement activity help us learn and develop as a team.

Patient involvement

Feedback, complaints and patient-group involvement are welcomed and used to inform service development.

Working together for Salford

Our two practices

Salford Medical Centre and The Quays Practice share experience, clinical leadership and healthcare professionals, helping us provide more joined-up care across both sites.

Our wider community

As part of Salford South East Primary Care Network, we work with neighbouring practices and local partners to improve access, prevention and support closer to home.

Help us keep improving

We want patients to understand how their practice works and to have a meaningful voice in its development. Explore our services, join our Patient Participation Group or tell us about your experience.

We review this page regularly so it continues to reflect our organisation, priorities and approach to quality.
